The Functional Area 50 Qualification Course (FA50QC) is the fourteen-week Intermediate Level Education (ILE) credentialing course for officers accessed as FA50s. The course prepares FA50 officers and Manpower Force Management Functional Community (formerly called CP26) civilians to perform force management functions in the operational and institutional Army at the Headquarters, Department of the Army (HQDA), Division, Corps, Army Commands (ACOMs), and Army Service Component Command (ASCC) levels. The course provides current force management regulatory guidance, policies, processes, systems, and procedures for managing change in the Army.
The FA50QC has two phases of instruction. Phase I is the four-week How the Army Runs Course (HTARC). Phase II, the ten-week FA50QC, is divided into four blocks of instruction: Strategy / Global Force Management (GFM); Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE); Capability Development/Materiel Development (CD/MD); and Force Development (FD).
